bio of photographer
Peter Neubauer Welcome to my website and thanks for dropping by. My name is Peter Neubauer, and I live in San Diego, California. My interest in photography began over twenty years ago when I bought my first camera, a Pentax K1000. Soon after buying that camera, my interest shifted to underwater photography, which was my main photographic outlet for many years. If you are interested in seeing some of my underwater photos, click here.

My goal as a photographer is to share a specific moment in time that hopefully evokes a sense of curiosity or emotion in the viewer. I enjoy pictures that have a "mood" to them, and this is typically what I strive for in my images.

Seeing your pictures published is an awesome feeling for any photographer. I have been fortunate to have my work published in National Geographic magazine, Surf Shot magazine, and California Diving News. The National Geographic photos were taken during the summer of 1999 when I accompanied my two friends Jim and Larry Helmen to the island of Little Cayman to photograph a famous dive spot called Bloody Bay Wall. The resulting image is 20 feet high and 60 feet long (6.6 by 20 meters) and took 10 days and numerous dives to complete. In addition to helping photograph the mural I shot photos showing how we accomplished the task.

I hope you enjoy the images on my website. I'm a pretty active photographer so I'll be updating my website often so please check back again soon for recent pictures.
