A canyon through tuff, 100 m deep, just below the farm Heiðarsel. There is a walking route along the eastern edge, and it is possible to walk up through the canyon, though then one must wade across the river.
The best in Iceland's highlands. The area displays a number of unusual geological elements, like the multicolored rhyolite mountains and expansive lava fields. The many mountains in the surrounding area display a wide spectrum of colors including pink, brown, green, yellow, blue, purple, black, and white.
The moon is almost taking over, but the sun is still pinting with its last rays on the rhyolit mountains of Iceland…Near Hekla volcano, which used to be called in the mediaval age the "Gate of Hell" for a reason...
